About Sherri O Designs
Sherri O Designs is a one-woman show, owned and operated by me, Sherri Odegaarden. I started selling my felted scarves and shawls (first on Etsy, then on my own website and at fine craft shows) in 2014. During the pandemic, my focus shifted from fancy art scarves to hand-dyed home goods. I've always been much more of a home body, and the pandemic made home bodies of us all!
VALUES
Honesty & Kindness: These two words serve as a guide for all my interactions. I believe in open and honest communication and assuming the best in people. I strive to always provide the best service to my customers and to treat everyone with kindness and respect.
Quality: Sherri O products are made to last. I utilize professional sewing, felting, and dyeing materials and techniques to create pieces that can withstand regular use. When manufactured "blanks" (undyed goods) are used, they are carefully sourced and thoroughly inspected for quality.
Sustainability: Sherri O Designs supports environmental sustainability by offering products (like cloth napkins and towels) designed to replace disposables reduce waste. Sherri O products are made from natural fibers and dyed with non-toxic low-impact fiber reactive dyes.
Many of my products are made from linen. Linen is very ecofriendly. It doesn't require the irrigation or pesticides that cotton does. Because almost all parts of the flax plant (from which linen is made) are used, it produces very little waste.
All the linen and linen-blend fabrics used to create my products are OEKO-Tex certified to be free of toxins and harmful chemicals and it's production causes no air, noise, or water pollution.
Orders are shipped with minimal packaging, and plastic packaging is avoided whenever possible. Smaller orders ship in paper padded envelopes that are fully recyclable. For larger and/or heavier orders that must ship in poly mailers, I use SMART Mailers, which are 100% recycled material. All shipping is carbon neutral. Shipments are made carbon-neutral using the Shopify Planet app, which by funds innovative companies that pull carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the atmosphere and store it.
About Sherri O: I am a crafty girl from way back. I come by it honestly. Some of my earliest memories are of my mother’s crochet group gathering in our house when I was just a toddler. My mastery of crochet never progressed beyond the ability to make a really long chain, but the joy of creating with my own two hands has never left me. My formal education and experience has centered mostly on various design fields with some fine arts and science thrown in for good measure.
When I am not crafting or running the business, I can usually be found playing board games with my husband, catering to my cat's every whim, kayaking, or taking a walk in the park.
